INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

If you are upgrading from one of my previous compilations, delete the entire Surreal folder and reinstall fresh. Also delete all your old Surreal user data or it will cause problems, located in E:\TDATA\64ce64ce\ and E:\UDATA\64ce64ce\.

Just copy the "Surreal64CE B6.0" folder to your Xbox. The "Bonus Manuals" are just for your laptop or whatever.

After your first boot of the emulator press the X button, go to "Launcher Settings", then change "Hide Launch Screens" to "Yes". This way you won't have to play emulator roulette every time you boot a game. Also those launch screens will knock off your settings. While you are in Launcher Settings also turn on the preview vids (XMV) and change skins. HDTVs will, of course, need an HD skin. You also may want to turn off the Info Panel there, it often covers vids or boxart.

If the emulator doesn't boot or has weird problems make sure you have 70 files in the Surreal folder. If not, you had some sort of FTP problem.

THINGS TO KNOW

This is a complete standalone. All the settings and controller configurations are saved in this emulator. Don't expect the same results if you put these roms in another emulator. And any added roms will simply use default settings, so don't expect them to work.

Missing a favorite game or two? My advice is blow it off. I probaly didn't add it for a reason. Like it doesn't work or plays like butt.

I put each game's setting in the rom name and comments, visible in the emulator. It just makes it easier to experiment with settings then easily revert back to mine.

If you ever accidentally knock off your settings, use "Saves Folder Backup.zip" to restore the emulator to default settings. Be sure and delete the user data also.

Some first person shooter's controller configurations require in game settings to work properly, see "1st Person Shooter Configs."

All games but Goldeneye and F-Zero work in 720p. All other games have 720p turned on. If your TV doesn't do 720p Surreal will automatically revert to 480i or p. Or if your Xbox has 720p turned off.

I put moves lists for the fighting games in the Synopsis files for easy access. Highlight a game and hit the X button then go to Synopsis. I also put the game instructions for the Mario 64 hacks in the sysnopis.

All roms except hacks and translations are from the no-intro set. Because they are the best.

Have a game that keeps freezing or audio dropping off? Let your Xbox warm up for about 5 minutes before jumping into the game. A cold CPU doesn't work quite as well.

ROM TROUBLESHOOTING

You may experience different performance from Xbox to Xbox with some games. Slight differences from system to system seem to impact the N64 more than other emulators. And running games in 720p may also run slightly different from standard definition. A few games may even not work at all for you, particularly the Zelda hacks.

Your best bet to fix a game is to increase or decrease dynarec memory two points. Note, make sure you are adjusting the DM for the emulator you are using for the game, being 1964 or PJ64. Another quick fix is changing max video memory from Auto to 4.

If none of that works, then it's time to try other emulator combinations. Try 1964x85-5.10. Now try PJ64x14-6.12. Now try both again, but this time change the audio to Basic or JttL, which ever you weren't using. If that doesn't work, you can keep trying, but you are most likely screwed.

Thanks to all the N64 translators and rom hackers that made this made this compilation really shine.

Thanks to everyone who likes my work so much. Keeps me working at it now and then in my spare time. Don't ask me why but it's fun for me.

Thanks to everyone on the now deceased isozone for getting me started in all this.

Thanks to Nintendo for making such a fun system and games. But fuck you for killing isozone.
